School:
§ 40 kindergarten students registered for the 2008-2009 school year with projected enrollment at 475
§ K through 4 will have 2 classes and 4 through 8 will have 3 classes

Finances &
Budget:
§ Mark Lawrence from the Archdiocesan Finance Office was introduced. He works on the Accounting for QAS had has implemented a shared accounting system for the parish.
§
22 Families have enrolled in Faith Direct
Maintenance
& Facilities:
§ 3 bids have been received for the flooring project in the school hallway. Bids are under review.
§ Rectory roof has been repaired. Church roof is being evaluated to see if it can be repaired rather than replaced.
§ A master list of maintenance items that need to be addressed is being compiled by Bob Tomek and a representative from the school.
§ A new maintenance man has been hired.
Sanctuary
Renovation:
§ Fr. Simon reported that major sanctuary renovation has been postponed until 2009. Items to be completed this year include purchasing the new crucifix, relocating the tabernacle and replacing the mensa (altar top).
Other:
§ Fr. Simon reported that the Archdiocese has been studying its purchasing practices and that of parishes and will re-organize the central purchasing agency for the Archdiocese.
§ Fr. Simon reported that PSR fees have increased from $125 to $135 per student.
§ Fr. Simon reported that due to the recent issue with the water meter, the billing for water has been incorrect for 6 years. The recent billing and associated meter readings are being reviewed for accuracy.
Next meeting is
June at
April 21 Meeting: Approximately 10 families have requested tuition assistance for the coming school year. 96 students made their First Communion. Voting for new School Board members occurred on the weekend of May 3-4.
May 19 Meeting: New School Board members were introduced. New Officers were elected: Mike Smith – President; Colleen Tierney – Vice President; Cindy Pyatt – Secretary; Sue Kozeny – Elections. Mrs. Carrie Sallwasser has been hired as Coordinator of Religious Education and Principal of PSR. She will oversee the Children’s Liturgy and be an advisor to the Vacation Bible Camp program. The Library Late Fee was discussed, and it was agreed there should be no exceptions to this policy. All late fees must be paid before report cards will be issued. A new Kindergarten teacher was hired and we are currently looking for a math teacher for 7th and 8th grades, a Discovery teacher, a new librarian and a school nurse.
Next School Board meeting will be in August.
Christian

Cope with Hope – Attended caregivers seminar.
Meal-a-Month - Collected 80 bags in April for Catholic
Communities Southside. May collection will be for Arnold Food Pantry.
Knights of
· RCIA period of mystigogia is complete, and period of inquiry will start in the fall
· One new lector is being trained and three new ministers will be added to the 3Q schedule.
·
· Deacon Rich will send a communication to Eucharistic minister captains concerning when to enter the sanctuary.
Stewardship:

Social: Carolyn Knopf
Parish Picnic – Bob and Camille Graf volunteered to be
Finance Chair for the picnic. Gambling
booths will be on the lower level parking lot named “Queen’s Landing”. Tables will be set up in Limbach Hall rather
than outside for those wishing to have a table for their group. All committee heads have agreed to a 3-year
commitment.
Children’s Guild – Due
to scheduling problems, there will be no show next year.
Cub Scouts - Pack 662 is sponsoring a Pizza Hut Day. The troop will receive 20% of orders places with QAS bulletin coupon.
Social
Mid-Life – A pig roast is planned for July 25 at
50+ Club –
Elections will be held at June 19th meeting. There will be a potluck supper on June
24. A bus trip to
Activities
Association - McBride & Sons is
working with the Activities Association regarding the property at the edge of
our athletic fields. McBride will grade
and seed this property and install new sprinklers which would give us
additional field space. CYC Spirit
Games will be held on our fields June 26 – 28.
We will host a St. Louis Soccer Club Camp at QAS July 28 – 31. Basketball tournament revenues of $10,800 was
split with the Knights of Columbus. The
event is planned again for February next year.

Business
Parish Council met jointly with Finance Council and heard a presentation from Sal LaMartina of the Strategic Planning Committee. Parish Council voted to accept the Vision Statement, Mission Statement and Value Statement submitted by the Strategic Planning Committee. Parish Council and Finance Council will take an active role in managing committees and sub-committees established by the Strategic Planning process.
Finance Committee presented and discussed its methodology in creating the annual budget for the coming fiscal year. Preliminary budget for the coming year was shared.
