Parish Council & Commissions
The Parish Council is a ministry formed in accordance with Archdiocesan regulations and the directives of Vatican II. The primary purposes of the Council are to formulate long term goals and policies aimed at serving the total needs of all parishioners including: spiritual, material, social, and educational. Other responsibilities of the Council include: promoting dialogue between parishioners and the parish staff; coordinating parish activities; serving as advisers to the Pastor; developing community within the parish; etc. One of the prime roles of the Council is to be a model Christian community. To this end, individual and communal prayer and personal Christian formation are of utmost importance to Council members. All Parish Council meetings are open to all parishioners. The Parish Council meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Rectory Basement Meeting Room. All nine members are chosen through a special selection process. There are several members who are ex officio members namely the Priests, and Deacons of the parish; Principal of the School; Director of Religious Education; Pastoral Associate.
Vision for the Future
With the continual growth of the Oakville area, especially around Queen of All Saints, many parishioners have expressed concerns about needs for the parish in the area of facilities, staffing and others. The best way to handle those needs is to plan for the future. Different types of groups were formed from the parishioners with the aid of Mr. Jim Muskopf as the facilitator. The first group formed was the Steering Committee made up of people from the Parish Council, Parish Board of Education and Finance and Administration Committees. This was followed by the Core Team which consisted of 53 people all different ages, interests who volunteered to be on the team. There was a special effort to include the youth of the parish. This group would be considered the dreamers. They met for two full days to come up with a plan. From the Core Committee the next group that followed were Action Teams. There were 120 people who volunteered to be part of these teams who were not a part of the Steering Committee or the Core team, except for one or two from the Core Team being a liaison for the Action Team. The Action Team’s work primarily was to specify different things that can be done to make the Core Team’s dreams a reality. There are seven Action Teams: Spirituality, Finances, Youth Formation, Facilities, Outreach/Inreach, Education Formation and Stewardship-Time, Talent and Treasure. These Action Teams submitted their final reports and recommendations last fall to the Visions Steering Committee. This spring-04, the Visions Steering Committee submitted a final report to the Parish Council fro eventual communication to the total parish. Any questions you contact Joe Hogan (846-1621) or Fr.
